This yearthe Gothic has adopted the style and patternof several popular magazines, well known tostudents. The division pages feature the coverdesigns of these magazines: the index beingmodeled after the Readers Digest; the Faculty section, after Time; Classes, after Life;Athletics, after Newsweek; and clubs, afterVogue.Like the magazines, the Gothic has focusedattention on activities. The camera man hascaught athletes in action, clubs in session, seniors and faculty in familiar haunts, andscenes from leading plays and convocations.Accompanying each organization picture isa short, informal account of the activities ofeach group during the current school year. That the accomplishments of B. H. S. organizations have been significant and manyis clearly revealed in these write-ups. Members of these organizations are to be congratulated. All students and teachers, with a fewexceptions, have their pictures in this book.Besides the portraits, there are included manysnapshots of students in natural poses. The Gothic is a product of the entireschool. Without splendid cooperation fromadministrators, teachers, and pupils the publication of this book would not have beenpossible. To the 850 subscribers and to the 100 business men who contributed to the financialsuccess of the Gothic the staff extends itssincerest thanks. The staff hopes that you will read theGothic as you would your favorite magazineand that you will turn to it again and againin the future as a book truly representativeof life in Bloomington High School during1941-1942. |
