Description: War Brings Changes To Classes And ActivitiesIThis year B. H. S. High School life moved out of theold groove of constant hilarity and took on the appearanceof a studious crowd of individuals at work.We were constantly aware of the loss of people whosefaces we had been accustomed to seeing in our halls. Thefirst called from our faculty into war service was our ownprincipal, Dr. Simon, who is now a Lieutenant Colonel in theAir Corps. Soon after we were called upon to give Mr. Wonnelland Mr. Cuddy. Adding a note of sobriety to the many prizedawards in our trophy case was our Service Honor Roll, a grimreminder of those boys from our own ranks who have madethe supreme sacrifice. Our curriculum took on a new picture with the additionof war courses. We began to offer aeronautics, welding, machine tool operation, photography, trigonometry, and thecourse that our sore bodies will never forget—physical fitness.Following the wishes of the leaders ofour nation, we organized a Victory Corps.A rousing patriotic convocation started offthe Victory Corps membership drive.Yes, 1943 was a different type of yearfor B. H. S. students, but with surprisingspeed and accuracy, the new war roles werefilled.LT. COL. DONALD L. SIMON
