Jim Woolery, Henrietta Parrish, Robert Horney, Betty Conner, Charles Henry, and MaryVirginia Turner were on the committee. H. S. Band marchedat five home football games, led by drum majors Marjorie Carmanand Philip Ferguson. Several complicated formations were demonstrated at the games, such as a star, B. H. S., initials of visitingschools, and U. S. A. Needing additional funds for uniforms, theband played for three political rallies; thirty new caps were purchased. Other musical activities included heading the Boy Scoutparade to the I. U.-Centre game, playing at all home basketballgames, staging a parade for the donkey basketball game, andgiving a concert in the Union Building for flood refugees.Seniors who will be missed from both orchestra and band areHelen Andrews, Kathryn Baker, Gladys Boltinghouse, PatriciaFlaherty, Ray Gines, Jr., Robert Hyndman, John Lloyd, WandaMiller, Millicent Sharp, Francis Smith, John Thompson, and Clifford Thrasher.A total of 245 junior and senior high students were takinginstrumental music this year in either senior band, senior orchestra, junior band, junior orchestra or beginning classes.Page twenty-one
