The class later selected as itssponsors: Stella Rouse and William Ferguson. An early class meeting set the date of the annual Junior-Senior partyfor May 17. This festivity differed from the customary banquet of previous years, and took the form of a picnic which was held at the BrownCounty State Park.Shortly after the fall session of school opened, a class meeting washeld to decide whether or not the class desired, for financial reasons, topublish an annual. An overwhelming assenting majority resulted in thesubsequent election of James Cathcart, GOTHIC editor, and DonaldWoolery, GOTHIC business manager.During the first semester, a successful play, Take My Advice, waspresented by a praiseworthy cast. During the fall term, however, themost meritorious activity of the Senior Class was the lead taken by theClass in the Christmas Charity Drive. Charles McDaniels, Ellen Murphy,Wilma Jean Schmalz, and William Stout, with George Blair, a junior, whoserved as chairman of the committee, are to be praised for their cooperative endeavors to bring Christmas cheer to the needy of the city. The activities of the semester were climaxed by a novel Senior mixer takingthe form of a prosperity carnival.During the second semester, another play, The Patsy, was given. Both the play and its cast won much commendation for excellency. This, we, the class of 1933, respectfully submit as a summary of ouractivities during our Senior year. Leaving the school wherein we havespent our past four years, we sincerely hope that we have contributed tothe spirit of the school, something which will remain long after we leave. For us, those years will remain silhouetted forever in our memories.(17)
