U. Y. M. C. A. After careful consideration they organizedupon lines expressive of a better High School. Four representatives were sent to theAnnual Indiana Boys Conference at Crawfordsville, who returned enthusiastic over whatthey had seen and heard. Under the Constitution an election was held, and Francis Gerhart,of the Class of Twenty-one was returned President. The activities of the Club during the administration of the Gerhart committee were tooextended to be included here. However they included two big times for the High Schoolboys, a bean feed, and a get-acquainted party. A second election for the coming yearresulted in Ralph McClintock, president; Harlan Logan, vice-president; Hamer Finn, secretary, and Jude Kreuger, treasurer. The two-day meeting of April 26-27 was the culminationof a series of discussion groups held by the organization. It was a great success for it represented the spirit of the boys of the High School. Their purpose, which should, indeed, bethat of every boy and every man, is to create, maintain, and extend throughout school andcommunity, high standards of Christian character. There are two distinct moving spirits of the organization outside the boys who form thegroup. They are Mr. Hale Bradt, dean of boys, and E. Arlo Byrum, Assistant Secretary ofthe I. U. Y. M. They are responsible for the organization--they have aided in every way topromote its interests. They are the movement s most energetic advocates in our community. Our organization now contains over thirty members. It is affiliated with the NationalOrganization of the same name.Fifty-fiveImage alt-text: Black-and-white formal group photograph of fourteen individuals, arranged into two rows. |
