THE GOTHIC 24THE ORCHESTRAThe orchestra has made great strides in the last year, and the untiringefforts of its members, under the able direction of Mr. McCauley, have made usproud of that organization. The first appearance of the orchestra was on December 9, when they gave their first Sunday afternoon concert. The concert provedto be even a more glorious success than its most enthusiastic supporters hadhoped for. Much time and energy was also spent on the orchestration of TheMikado.The first week in May, the orchestra went to Indianapolis to compete withother high school orchestras of the state during Fine Arts week. A local meetof a similar nature will be held in Bloomington the latter part of this month, inwhich the local organization will take a leading part.The members of the orchestra are: James Beck, Lowell Jackson, GeorgeMundy, Martha Rott, James Rice, Pauline Spriggs, Elizabeth Karsell, MildredRobertson, Lorena Ramsey, Peggy Culmer, Elbert Masteen, Vernon Axsiom,Allen Hanna, Irvin Judah, Darwin Badertscher, Ainsley Burks, Francis Steen,Paul Weathers, Fred Mason, James Van Hook, Charles Wylie, Maynard Hiestand, Bernard Herrin, and Frank Woodburn.Page Sixty-Three |
