Description: 19 GOTHIC 16BaseballWITH the construction of the new athletic field, future prospectsfor outdoor athletics at B. H. S. are bright. Although thefield was not completed in time to be used much this year, the fol-lowers of the summer sport were not daunted, and organized abaseball team.The 1915 baseball season was hardly a success, but there werefive good men-left in school to form the nucleus of this years nine.Around these men a promising team has been built.The season was opened on April 15th, when the Purple andWhite invaded Brazil. The score was Brazil 8, Bloomington 6.The result was not disappointing, since the locals proved that theycould hit the ball, making eleven hits to Brazils three. As theGothic goes to press, games are pending with Mitchell, Brazil, Clover-dale, Crawfordsville and other teams in the southern part of thestate.Five out of thirteen men will be lost by graduation this year, butwith plenty of material coming on, and the athletic field ready foruse, next year should bring a banner season in baseball.(74)Image alt-text: Three black-and-white photographs, taken outdoors.
