Because of a weak bench andthe loss of senior Charlie Byrnes, as a result of abroken wrist, coach William Frohliger was forcedto play his good but inexperienced sophomores. The team improved gradually but not enough tostop their 11 game losing streak. During thisstring of losses the coaches tried many combinations but none seemed to jell.Byrnes then returned to lead the team backinto the victory column against a good TerreHaute Garfield team. Byrnes play seemed to becontagious as the other seniors on the team began to play better ball. Joe Greenwell showedgood playmaking and defense while Dan Grossman and Kurt Westie turned in good performances on the boards.Led by Byrnes and Greenwell, the Pantherswent on to win over Greensburg. Then came Crispus Attucks. The team fell hard 84 to 44. ThePanthers bounced back to beat Bloomfield in thelast game of the season.124. |
