Aurora Alternative High School, The Phoenix, 2000, Page 39

Description: Aurora movie reviewThis summer the movie studios came outwith some of the most exciting movies of the decade, andthis year’s yearbook would like to recognize them.We had the return of Star Wars, sci-fi’s like TheMatrix and 13th Floor, and comedies like South Park andAmerican Pie. But the hottest sellers this year were thrillers, focusing on the disturbing, the hellish, and the holy. But why all these scary movies? We think thatit might have to do with the millenium and how everyone isparanoid and thinking that the world is going to end. CarlyEvans is one of many who think that nobody knows what toexpect in the coming year.Another reason that scary horror flicksmake a lot of money is because people like to be scared.People like to be scared because of the adrenaline rushthat gets them out of the routine of normal living. Theproblem with good scary movies is that they start a trend ofbad spin-offs just so film studios can make more money. But sometimes the little guy comes out big, like with TheBlair Witch Project. Now, on with the reviews...By: Wendy Wyatt39Movies
