The B SceneRhino’s All Ages Music ClubUsing city funding and youth support, Rhino’s opened about eightyears ago as a place, mostly directed towards local teenagers, where anyonecould go as well as a place where anyone could play. It’s been pretty successful. Local bands needing a place to start have been given the chance there several times. And kids who are just plain bored can just go hang out. And if you dowant to see the bands then you will almost never pay more than six dollars for aconcert.I can’t credit Rhino’s as an elite venue, but I can say that it has become agood place to go when there’s nowhere else to go on the weekends. Not beingable to go to bars and adult clubs in a college town can be a downfall, butRhino’s was started so that maybe age won’t matter. That would have to be thecoolest reason for a club to open. Thanx to Rhino’s...The Indiana University AuditoriumThis venue would have to be the most mainstream and popular inBloomington. Directed mostly towards the students, it serves asBloomington’s opportunity to bring in larger, corporate bands that youwould normally have to drive to Indianapolis to see. But the ticket pricerises proportionately to the revenue of the band. Good luck getting a ticketfor less than twenty-three dollars.Assembly HallAnother venue run through Indiana University, this hall is traditionallyassigned to basketball games. However, larger concerts that are predictedto exceed the capacity of the Auditorium are usually held there. But thesize doesn’t seem to lower the price at all.One way this spot differs from the Auditorium is in the floorspace that is usually opened up for those who want to dance. Unless youget assigned seats, and then they charge extra for floor seats. But generaladmission rocks!!! Unfortunately, you won’t usually find general admissionseats through Sunshine Promotions, and they have the IU circuit locked- down...37By: Clarence KnappVenues |
