More Than TeachersBySeptember SundeMany of the teachers at Aurora were very pleased with theclasses they taught this year.Aurora offered classes such asMythology, Java Programming, Human Physiology,Auto Skills, U.S. History, andTestimonial Literature. Someother classes such as Adventures in Literature, Gardening,History of Rock and Roll, andShakespeare are a few of theclasses teachers would like tosee in the future.Of course, some of the classesdidn’t always go according toplan. Becky Rupert, whotaught first semester said, “I’velearned a lot about teachinghere at Aurora.” Becky nowsubstitutes here once in awhile,and was a full-time teacher’saide in the spring. Two otherteachers thought things couldhave gone more smoothly, likeEnglish/Health teacher JanetJohnson. Janet said, “Nothingever works exactly as I wouldlike—however, I was pleasedoverall.” Tim Fick, the SocialStudies teacher, agreed thatthings don’t always go the wayyou want them to. Tim said,“That’s the way life is. There’salways a need to improve.”Aurora is always willing toimprove. Change is a big partof what we do and who we are.Students and teachers all feelthat everyone here is family.We learn to grow as one andget that one-on-one attentionand help from peers and teachers. Are classes successful?Jan Hagemeyer, Career Skillsteacher, said, “I believe so.That’s what my students tellme.” Jeff Racy, who teachesScience, said, “It has reallyChuck Holloway is always a willing participant in classroom experiments. Here, thetreadmill was put on Fast Run ” in order to see just how fast and far Chuck would go forhis beloved M&M’s. |
