“You have something on your nose!” Chuck Hollowaydonates his face for a good cause. Participants paid onedollar in order to throw a pie at Chuck. It’s not often that students are allowed to slam pies into theirprincipal’s face. However, the Aurora Fall Festival was no ordinary day.Saturday, October 19th, the day it all happened, was quite possibly oneof the school’s most fun and educational days for all of us.Included in the day were many different kinds of activities, suchas craft sales, face painting, and the famous “Throw Pies at ChuckHolloway” event. “I though it was pretty fun. It was fun to see peopleget hit by pies, “ stated Chase Potter. All together, these events earned the school between four andfive hundred dollars. These profits, which went toward other school-oriented projects and events, helped us a great deal.In spite of the overall success of this event, many people weredisappointed with the number of people who showed up. “It was okay, but should have been better advertised, “ said Nick Hodges. In responseto this, Co-organizer Janet Johnson said, “We now know it takes a lot ofnewspaper advertising, flyers, and word-of-mouth to make people awareof our events. That is definitely something we will work on in thefuture!”Shelly Bundy, who worked very hard (with her mother, TanaBundy) to gamer prizes for the raffle, said, “It was confusing and took alot of time to prepare, but overall it was a success.”Those who participated in last year’s festival are already lookingforward to next fall. We anticipate a successful second year, particularlybecause the student population will be bigger and our location will bemore central. See you there!-Craig Ferree |
