Description: Be Careful What You Wish ForMary was a very beautiful lady in her late 30’s. She had long, shiny, dark hair. She was tail and skinny. Her skin was pale and hereyes were big and brown. She was a very wealthy woman. She hadeverything a person could dream of, but she still was not happy. Shewas always complaining about the simplest things. Her husband Roger was rarely ever home. He was alwaystraveling (he owned his own travel agency). Roger loved his wife verymuch and wanted her to be happy. He was worried about herdepression and was always telling her, “Be careful what you wish forMary, you just might get it.”One beautiful day in Spring, Mary was in her front yard plantingrows of marigolds. Her husband walked out the front door andkissed her on the top of her head and said, “I’ll be back in a coupleof days, I have to go to a meeting out of state.” She smiled and toldhim to be careful. An hour later, Mary heard the phone ringing. Shejumped up and ran to the phone. When she got there (to the phone)it stopped ringing. As she started to turn around, the floor boardsbeneath her started squeaking. She stomped her foot and yelled,“This old house is nothing more than a waste of wood, I think itwould have more use if it were burning. I wish I didn’t have to livehere anymore!” That night while Mary was asleep up stairs, a fuseblew in her house. And it caught on fire. That night Mary and herhouse burnt to the ground.Natalie B.
