Families identifying victims of Coliseum explosion, 1963

Description: Caption on photo reads: In the background is Virginia Kafouros, one of the Volunteer Red Cross registered nurses, who assisted families in identifying relatives killed as a result of the Coliseum explosion in Indianapolis, Indiana. The explosion occurred at the Indiana State Fairgrounds Coliseum during the finale of a theatrical type ice show, Halloween night, October 31, 1963. Seventy-three persons died as a result of the explosion and nearly 400 were injured. This was the largest single disaster to hit the State of Indiana.
