Alice Maywood sampler

Description: Border in navy blue & light & dark rose, is not finished. 1st alphabet & numbers in 1/2" letters in medium blue. Script alphabet 1" in dark rose. 1" flowery alphabet in dark rose. 1 1/4" letters in dark blue & medium blue starting on letter "U." Tree and flower in lower right corner.
Alice Maywood embroidered this simple sampler in 1826 using red thread to cross stitch her alphabet and numbers. The linen fabric is loosely woven, causing the cross stitching to look less distinct.
