Front of vest is beige flowered calico with design in orange and green 3-petal flowers interspersed with rings composed of 10 tiny white circles; shawl color of the same fabric ends at mid-chest; closure is at center front; 4 incised pearl, gold rimmed buttons on right front, 4 hand bound buttonholes on left front; there are pockets on each side of vest front, with edges slanting upward to center front; front end pocket edges are piped; left pocket has 2 stitches in top edge, preventing it from opening entirely; back of vest is white even-weave linen with adjustable flaps of self fabric mounted 1 1/3" to 2" from bottom edge, 2" from side seams; entire vest is lined in linen
