News from Kiwanis: Chicago, Illinois, August 9, 1977. Kiwanis International President Stanley Schneider, Crestline, Ohio (center in plaid jacket) presents recent Baseball Hall of Fame winner Ernie Banks with a Kiwanis plaque memorializing the late Philip K. Wrigley, long-time owner of the Chicago Cubs, and acknowledging his many contributions to his fellowman. Banks represented the Wrigley family in receiving the plaque. The presentation took place between the first and second games of a double-header, Wednesday, July 27, at Wrigley Field in Chicago. The occasion was the seventh annual Kiwanis Benefit Baseball outing. It saw 1868 Kiwanians on hand from 59 clubs in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Michigan. Wrigley And with sincere appreciation for his lifetime of concern for his fellowman. Done from the heart, with no public notice, and no desire for recompense. Good Citizen, Good Neighbor, Good Man.
