Crowds of spectators huddle under umbrellas and ponchos during a rainy day at the track. Rain delays would keep the race from occuring on its scheduled Sunday, May 25th and stop the race after 15 laps on Monday, May 26th. The 1997 Indianapolis 500 finally ran on Tuesday, May 27th. |
