Kring built this house in 1897 and sold it to William Gates who lived here from 1897 until 1899. Elmer E. Crane was the owner-occupant from 1909 to 1921. The next owner-occupant was William V. Barron from 1942 to 1963. The north side porch was removed between 1898 and 1915.This 2 1/2-story frame house has brick walls on the first story, wood framing and asbestos siding on the second and half-stories. The cross-gable roof has a jerkin head gable on the front and rear facades. The house has a full-width front porch with square brick piers and walls with stone coping, accents and classical balustrades.
