Description: |
Typed on back of photo: Bennetts Road, part of the Hutton Estate. In the 1890s streets of bye-law houses were provided for the artisans and better paid workers employed in the adjoining industrial zone (in the background). The houses were rented at first but during the 1930s and since World War II there has been a pronounced shift into owner-occupation. But owners only own a lease which will run out in less than 25 years. Written on back of photo: Saltley 76. Nick Hedges. Stamped on back of photo: IIU. Birmingham (Saltley) |
