Portland, Living

In recent years Ive been noticing a growing homeless presence in Portland where I live. In 2017, the majority of homeless people hid in their sleeping places in small patches of woods or hedges by the side of the road. The homeless population has boomed in the past 12 months. It is rare to see a single hidden homeless sleeping site, but now there are large encampments in parks, under bridges, right on the city streets. My project evolved with this information --Artist statement as supplied to UCB Environmental Design. |
