Description: |
hand-painted lithograph. Edition of 5. I chose to use the hamsa because it is a symbol of protection. I imagined the hamsa holding an open book while protecting it and its reader. I use birds as a subject matter in all of my work because I admire their beauty and agility. The phoenix is a metaphor for destruction and rebirth. I created this print by drawing the image, then scanned it into Photoshop and Illustrator. I cleaned up the drawing then distorted it in illustrator to make the lines and shapes exaggerated and bold. I used a light exposure unit to expose the image onto an aluminum lithography plate and printed my image with black ink. I hand painted my images using watercolor concentrate. I’m excited to be included in the Al Mutanabbi project, I believe in the power of art. Our collective response to devastating acts against humanity is proof of our strength (retrieved from IUCAT) |
