Description: |
silkscreen print with collage and sewing on Japanese paper. Edition of 8. I have spent the past sixteen years studying endangered plants and animals in my home state of Maine. This research has become the subject of a series of over 80 limited edition and unique artists books that I have created along the way. In Take flight, I have included a screen print of a small blue butterfly, an animal believed to be extirpated from the region. As I considered the concept of Absence and Presence, my thoughts wandered to those precious things I hold close whether or not they are gone - a butterfly - a book - an idea - or a friend (retrieved from IUCAT on Nov. 1, 2019). |
