Queen City (steamboat)

Description: The Queen City was built at Cincinnati Marine Railways for the Pittsburg and Cincinnati Packet Line. Coming back from a Mardi Gras trip she sank at the Falls of the Ohio on February 17, 1914. She laid up in the Kanawha River at Point Pleasant until 1916 when she went to Louisville and ran excursions. She was idled again until the Louisville and Cincinnati Packet Company acquired her and had her towed to Mound City, Illinois where she was given a new hull. She make several Mardi Gras runs in the 1920s and in 1929 was transferred to the Ohio River Transportation Company. She became a wharf boat at Pittsburg in 1933. She sank in January of 1940 and her remains were burned the following February. Her roof bell is now on the Delta Queen. Photograph taken 1920s
