Madison Depot Bell

Description: The bell was cast in 1849 at the Garrett Foundry in Cincinnati and placed in the cupola of the freight depot in the same year. In the early 1900s the bell was diverted to Richmond, Indiana. In the 1950s it was placed atop a stone burr from the Clifty Falls Mill and was installed on the lawn of the Lanier Mansion. It was later given to the Jefferson County Historical Society where it now resides. Photograph taken 1920s
