Donlan Home - 102 West Third Street - Another View

Description:	This house has been described as Queen Anne/Romanesque. It was built between 1892 and 1897, probably for the Michael Donlan family and they lived in the home for over fifty years. Mr. Donlan was a prominent Madisonian with ties to the banking industry. The last two Donlans in the home were Margaret and Catherine, daughters of Michael. They lived there until the 1950s. The home itself is of red brick and stone with cream-colored stone accents around and above the openings. There are fancy insets of stone and brick around the perimeter of the house accenting the outside walls. There is a three-story round turret on the northeast corner culminating in a round porch flaring out from it which is encircled with turned and carved decorative wood trim. The turret gives the home an almost castle-like appearance. The residence sits on a slight elevation from the sidewalk and has an ornate wrought iron fence surrounding it.
