Walter Carl Mundt, Sr., was born in Berlin, Germany on June 16, 1862. He came to America in 1866 at the age of four with his parents, Charles and Bertha Krahn Mundt. The family located in Cincinnati, Ohio. His father passed away in 1881 and his mother took Walter and his brother, Edward, and returned to Germany. After a short visit there, Walter came back alone to the Cincinnati-Covington area, where he continued to learn the confectioners trade. In 1893 Walter moved his family to Madison and opened a retail confectionery. Walter Carl died suddenly on October 20, 1927. Picture taken 1920s |
