Description: |
This was an advertisement on the side of a brick building for Hen and Ben Shoe Store. Harry Lemen notes, "Hen and Ben Shoe sign on old Thevis brick. Later torn down after 1937 flood." If you look closely, you can see an advertisement for Oscar Bear Jewelers, in the distance. Usually, people charged a company a nominal fee to paint their advertisements on their buildings. Old barns were a favorite place to put your company name. |
