Called the Rod Mill locally, American Steel and Wire moved to Anderson from Covington, Ky. in 1888. The factory was located in west Anderson on Locust Street. It made nails and tacks, wire rods, plain and barbed wire rope, concrete reinforcement and wire hoops. The company closed down sometime during WWII. |
