Description: The journal written by John Tipton during the expedition to find the location for the state capitol, which would become Indianapolis, during May 17-June 11, 1820. This journal was printed in the Indianapolis News, April 17, 1879, annotated by George Cottman and reprinted in the Indiana Magazine of History, 1 (1905), 9-15, 74-79. A shorter version of this journal also exists. See TIPT0326 (in KEY field).
