A postcard showing Brewster Park in Forville, Indiana. A number of visitors spend time by the creek and bridge found there. Sent to Mr J A Alfrey of Hartford City, Indiana. Postmarked February 1910. One local historian writes, Brewster Park in Fortville, which no longer existed by 1931, was located on West Staat Street, near the curve. Currently, there are Fortville Park and Landmark Park, at the location of the old Fortville High School. Brewster owned a house and drugstore. The park was eventually incorporated into Fortville Park. Joseph L. Skarenina, Postcard History Series: Hancock County, (Charleston, SC: Acadia Publishing, 2004), 125.Donated by Joseph Skrvarenina. |
