Description: |
This postcard features a black-and-white image of Jimmy Dickens. In the photograph, Jimmie is standing next to a guitar. The guitar is balanced on its strap pin and Dickens hand is resting on the guitar’s head. Dickens is wearing a black shirt and a lighter colored pair of trousers. He is also wearing a cowboy hat, a bandana tied around his neck and a belt with a buckle that features the head of a long horn cow. In the background of the image is a painted backdrop of a body of water lined by trees. The image for the postcard appears to be taken from an earlier picture based on the scalloped edge visible along the left edge of the image. At the start of his career, Jimmy Dickens performed as Jimmie “The Kid.” During his time at WIBC he switched to performing as Little Jimmy Dickens. Dickens had a long career WSM and the Grand Ole Opry. |
