Northwest corner of Danville square

Description: A brick building is seen on the northwest corner of the public square in Danville. The building is labled as Baker & Son and appears to be a store for stoves and furniture, as well as an undertaker. Built in 1890, the building originally housed The County Fair department store. It was later sold and the upper floor was turned into hotel rooms. A fire in 1935 destroyed the upper floor. The lower floor was later Danners department store. The building was later demolished and a new structure erected. Photocopy; original not available.
