Description: Correspondence, speeches, and other documents sent to and from Will H. Hays during the 1920s. Born in Sullivan, Indiana in 1879, Hays served as chairman of the Republican National Committee (February 1918-June 1921); manager of Warren G. Hardings presidential campaign (1920); U.S. postmaster general (March 1921-March 1922); and president of the Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America (MPPDA) (1922-1945). In addition to materials related to Hays personal and professional interests, this folder contains daily reports about recent press stories, a report on stocks, minutes from a meeting of the Indiana Lincoln Union, a letter about the quota on American films abroad, and correspondence about Gillespie Auto Laundry System and the Miami Coal Company. It also includes letters discussing a process that creates color motion pictures called the Three Color Additive Process, letters about a possible film adaptation of Will James book Smoky the Cowhorse, and a report on the status of the Sirovich resolution, a proposed investigation into the motion picture industry.
