Born in Sullivan, Indiana in 1879, Hays served as chairman of the Republican National Committee (February 1918-June 1921); manager of Warren G. Hardings presidential campaign (1920); U.S. postmaster general (March 1921-March 1922); and president of the Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America (MPPDA) (1922-1945). In addition to materials related to Hays personal and professional interests, this folder contains correspondence about Hays vacation with his son in Wyoming, Culver Military Academy, The Air Mail Pioneers of America, and the upcoming football season. It also includes job requests and recommendations and letters concerning Hays entry for the book Whos Who in Government.
