Born in Sullivan, Indiana in 1879, Hays served as chairman of the Republican National Committee (February 1918-June 1921); manager of Warren G. Hardings presidential campaign (1920); U.S. postmaster general (March 1921-March 1922); and president of the Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America (MPPDA) (1922-1945). In addition to materials related to Hays personal and professional interests, this folder contains thank you notes for Christmas messages and gifts, New Year greetings, a pamphlet from the Anti-Monopoly League, a proposed contract between Gillespie Auto Laundry System and Pacific Gillespie System, and a memo about newsreels for the Canadian government. |
