Correspondence, speeches, and other documents sent to and from Will H. Hays during the 1920s. Born in Sullivan, Indiana in 1879, Hays served as chairman of the Republican National Committee (February 1918-June 1921); manager of Warren G. Hardings presidential campaign (1920); U.S. postmaster general (March 1921-March 1922); and president of the Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America (MPPDA) (1922-1945). In addition to materials related to Hays personal and professional interests, this folder contains correspondence about the National Republican Club, the death of Hays father-in-law, job requests or recommendations, the Near East Reliefs Golden Rule Sunday campaign, admission tax, and the legislative situation in various states. It also includes meeting minutes of the Boys Club Federation, a report of the Institute for the Crippled and Disabled, and a list of politicians that should receive Christmas cards. |
