Paper pasted on the back of the frame handwritten states: The family of Jacob and Catharine (Madlem) Gordon. / The Gordons came to Elkhart County Sept. 13th 1865, from Lancaster County Penn. Mr. Gordon died in Elkhart, June 2 - 1914. Mrs. Gordon, died in Elkhart, Jan. 3 - 1920. They are buried, in Olive cemetery, South of Elkhart. / In Picture / Standing Abner, Albert, Mazie, Jacob, Ida, & Ada. Seated, Franklin, Jacob Sr., Walter, & Catharine. Picture believed, to have been taken, around 1889. / Jacob Gordon Sr. served in Co. D. of 93rd Penn. Infantry.
