Mother Theodore writes of the election of Father Maurice St. Palais as Bishop. She describes St. Palais background and remarks that his disposition toward the Congregation resembles that of Bishop Bouvier. She speaks of the closure of the Seminary due to lack of funds. She also speculates that the Motherhouse will be moved to Madison since that is where St. Palais will fix his See. Mother Theodore notes that the present location is poor and cut off from the world due to the flooding of the Wabash River. Dated December 9, 1848. |
