Correspondence and papers belonging to Grace Julian Clarke, an activist for womens suffrage and world peace, during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Clarke was an passionate leader and participant in womens organizations from the local to the national level, as well as being an engaged member of Indianapolis society from a prominent Irvington family. A strong author, she wrote for the Indianapolis Star newspaper for 18 years and published two biographies about her father, George Washington Julian, who was an influential Hoosier politician and abolitionist. |
