Classification key used by the Indiana Section of the American Chemical Society to identify and group Hoosier chemists by their skill set and how they could assist in the war effort during World War I. The classification numbers were added to completed census forms from the chemists. Categories included munitions, supply work, food, energy and fuel, and pharmaceutical, inorganic, analytical, organic, and other types of chemistry. The key was written on the back of a blank census form. |
