Alfred F. Dowd oral history transcript

Description: Transcript of a series of six interviews with Alfred F. Dowd, a former employee and administrator of the Indiana correctional system for more than 45 years, regarding his experiences in Indiana correctional institutions, including the reformatories at Jeffersonville and Pendleton; his term as warden at the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City (1938-1945); his work as a prison official in Japan after World War II; prison life and incidents; and notable prisoners such as John Dillinger and D. C. Stephenson. The interview was conducted by F. Gerald Handfield of the Indiana State Library.
