Union Federal Savings and Loan

Description: Union Federal Savings and Loan (Hall & Frank Jewelers can be seen on the right). Caption: The Klotz Building, the one on the northwest corner of Lebanon and Main Streets, was built in 1867 by Frank Klotz, a Lebanon banker, and for some time was occupied by his baker. Later, it was a drug store room (Dr. A. B. Jones Corner Drug Store for one) and about 1920 became the home of the Boone County State Bank. Around 1938, the Boone County Bank moved into the old first National Bank Bldg., where it is now located, and the Union Federal Savings and Loan moved into the room pictured above. The building next north was built about the time the Klotz Bld., but who the builder was is not known. Both buildings were razed in 1964 to be replaced by the present Union Federal structure. / Evidence it was built in 1870 by Ball & Taylor who occupied it as a jewelers (see old papers in the 1870s).
