Interview with Willett H. Parr, Jr., a Lebanon attorney. His father was also an attorney and founder of the Parr law firm. Subjects addressed include: a typical law office in the early 20th century, the construction of the fourth Boone County Courthouse (including how the circuit court functioned during the construction), the interior of the third Boone County Courthouse, early 20th century bar examinations, fires (including the fires at the Olympic Theater and Lebanon First Baptist Church in 1912), Central School, the Boone County Fair and horse racing, circuses, early 20th century games and activities (including local whist clubs and ice skating), fur trapping, the coming-of-age ritual of receiving long pants after graduating from the 8th grade, and the sinking of the Titanic. He also relates numerous anecodets from his law career (including the sale of individual floors of the Pioneer Equity Building in Lebanon, which he claims was the first condominium in the State of Indiana) and his experience working with the Ulen Company on rural electrification projects. |
