Description: |
Letter from A.M. Donaldson at Penuffon in Rhayader, Powys, Radnorshire, Wales to Jessy Heineken in Rumney, Cardiff, Wales on October 12, 1818, regarding news of family and friends visiting, illnesses, weather and conveying a letter from his son and Jessy's cousin, Frank Donaldson in Richmond, Ohio on August 13, 1818 and Cincinnati, Ohio on August 14th. Frank Donaldson's letter concerned plans to go to Illinois Territory and purchase land there, inspired by Morris Birkbeck's book, because although he and his companions like the country, society, and the settlements in Ohio, there remained no cheap, unclaimed land. |
