This letter was written by William C. Olds to his father Frank A. Olds while he was stationed near Allatoona, Georgia, with Company C of the 63rd Indiana Infantry Regiment. He describes the layout of the Union army between Allatoona and Dallas, Georgia as they approach Atlanta. He also discusses his opinions on General Grant's movements against General Lee as well as his own possible promotion.
