Road construction on Main Street in Plainfield, Indiana. The roadwork on U.S. 40 included infrastructure upgrades, widening of the lanes, and paving. Much of this area of Main Street was still brick at this time. Looking east, the Knights of Pythias building, part of the Prewitt Theatre, and the First National Bank are visible. On the left are the canopies for Kroger Grocery, an ice cream shop, Coca Cola sign, and Cafe sign. A man and a woman are walking down the sidewalk on the left. A truck is parked in the middle of the street. |
