Description: |
The final slide of the program shows the entrance at the left to one of Jeffersonvilles early amusement parks. These were more properly picnic grounds where families could pay a small entrance fee, bring a lunch, stroll gardens, and listen to musicians play. There were playgrounds and ball fields. These were very popular to church and social groups. The picture shows a tall entrance gate with four men standing in front. One or more two story buildings stand behind them, possibly a lodge for dining inside during rain or for catering services. |
