265. Burke Coal Barges, 1897

Description: This 1897 image shows the coal barges being unloaded at the J. E. Burke dock. The office was located several streets north at 53 Chestnut Street, Jeffersonville, Indiana. This picture shows two barges, several horse and wagons to load the coal onto. In the middle of the picture is a storage shed with the company name painted on it. Near the front of the image is a two-seater horse and buggy with Mr. James E. Burke standing beside the horse.
