257. Lepperts Barber Shop and Bath Rooms, 1897

Description: The interior of Lepperts Barber Shop and Bath Rooms is featured in this photograph from 1897. Mr. Leppert and his associates are providing services to several men by shaving or cutting their hair. This Victorian tonsorial parlor features elegant storage cabinets, shelves and slanted mirrors. The bathing area is but off from the front parlor by a wooden wall with an ornate carved top. The picture includes three white employees and one African-American employee standing at the back of the shop.
